3. Gut Feelings
Curator
Gut Feelings
Centrala, Birmingham, UK, 6th July 2018
Indulge your senses and join Thinking Flesh and Centrala for Gut Feelings – a sonic, visual and visceral celebration of the gut feelings society usually forces us to hide, coinciding with Centrala’s 100 Years so What? exhibition.
Our bodies are messy, complex vessels through which we experience the world. However for marginalised and non-conforming identities, they are also a site of tension and provocation.
Artists and performers unsettle social norms through film screenings and live art performances exploring Black female identity, shameful and non-normative desires, body dysmorphia and queerness.
Live art:
Queer Rage Fire Child – Lizzie Masterton
Jailhouse Mentality – Izdihar Afyouni
Art Domme – Liberty Antonia Sadler
Splitting – Olivia Sparrow
Films: Nicole Goodwin, Miriam Poletti and Liberty Antonia Sadler
